Sepideh has been actively
involved in the Iranian-American community since the age of 12 when
she was the co-president of an Orange County-based cultural youth
group named Kanoon-e Parvaresh-e Fekri. She has also
helped her father in his various community projects including the
first-ever Norooz street banners for the City of Irvine in
2007. Currently she is involved with the Irvine Unified
School District's Runway to Success and Walk to School program,
the annual Persian Mehregan Festival and is a Board
Member of Javanan-e NIPOC (Network of Iranian Americans
of Orange County). Sepideh has appeared as a guest on the public access
TV show Crosstalk, Voice of America,
Bebin TV, Persian satellite programs such as actor
Houshang Touzie's Saat-e 25 and on radio stations
including KIRN 670 AM and KUCI.
Most recently she was involved in UCI's Career
Fest as a panelist in the Careers in Writing category.
Born in Vienna, Austria, Sepideh
grew up surrounded by art and music. Her mother and aunt are both
pianists and her father is an artist. At the age of eight she moved
to Orange County where she still resides today. At
the age of nine she began playing the piano and at one time spent
her summers teaching preschool-aged children piano. After graduating
from Aliso Niguel High School in 1998, Sepideh attended
California State University, Fullerton and graduated
with her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. After working several
years for private engineering firms as well as the Orange County Transportation
Authority (OCTA), in 2005 she put her engineering career aside so
she could fully dedicate her time to the community.
Sepideh came on board as the editor-in-chief
of OCPC magazine in June of 2005. Through
OCPC she hopes to connect second generation Iranian-Americans
who, like herself, have not had the opportunity to visit their home
country.
